Bay Area Philanthropist Larry Goldfarb Joins Youth Tennis Advantage Board of Directors
OAKLAND, Calif.-January 19, 2010—It takes a very special person to manage a thriving global investment, banking and advisory group in today’s world. That person becomes extraordinarily special when they add major philanthropy and volunteer activities to their work load. Youth Tennis Advantage (YTA) is fortunate to announce that such a leader has joined the organization. On January 13th Lawrence (Larry) Goldfarb, Founder and CEO of LRG Capital Group and long –time philanthropic activist volunteered to serve as a member of the YTA Board of Directors.
“Larry will be a huge asset to YTA,” says YTA President, Russell Flynn. “Because YTA originated over 40 years ago, our loyal volunteer and donor base is swiftly maturing. YTA is in need of young leaders. YTA needs young professionals who desire to make a difference while sharing their love of sports, academics and life skills. Larry is committed to helping us attract new and enthusiastic future leaders” Flynn adds.
Loretta Conway, Executive Director of YTA, is thrilled to work with Mr. Goldfarb. “Larry has only been associated with YTA for a few short weeks and he has already volunteered to Co-Chair our June 7th Marin Doubles Fundraiser!” announces Ms. Conway. “Larry’s knowledge, influence and vast network of clients and friends is invaluable to an organization such as ours. As schools, park and recreation departments, and community-based organizations continue to close programs and cancel sports, YTA after school programs are becoming more important to the health and future of our youth. Attracting strong and dedicated volunteer leaders is key to our success.”
When asked “Why YTA?” Mr. Goldfarb responded, “I completely agree with YTA’s vision to support inner city kids and young adults to learn tennis, develop life skills and contribute to each child’s academic and future success.”
Mr. Goldfarb received his J.D. Cum Laude from Georgetown Law School in 1984. He has over twenty years of investment banking, trading and legal experience as well as many years of service to long list of charitable and non-profit foundations.
Youth Tennis Advantage is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to serving youth in Bay Area, low income communities through a comprehensive program of tennis and academic tutoring that promotes the physical, educational, and life skills necessary to prepare and empower them for leadership in their communities, and success in their personal lives.
