About Lawrence (Larry) R. Goldfarb
Lawrence (Larry) R. Goldfarb was born in 1958, growing up in Queens NY playing music and sports. He attended Forrest Hills High School and graduated George Washington University with a B.A. in International Economics. Larry received his legal degree cum laude, from Georgetown Law School where he was on the Law Journal and published numerous articles. Mr. Goldfarb began his career as a tax attorney with the law firms of Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy and thereafter with Skadden Arps Meagher & Flom, where he provided tax analysis in connection with a wide variety of complex transactions, including financings, mergers and recapitalizations. After moving west he joined Credit Suisse First Boston Corporation and in 1998 formed BayStar Capital Management LLC. He is the founding partner and current CEO of LRG Capital Group, LLC in Larkspur. He continues to be an avid skier and tennis player and is an accomplished jazz pianist. Mr. Goldfarb serves as a Board Member in several charitable and non-profit foundations such as Ambassadors of Hope and Opportunity , Blue Bear School of American Music and the Joe Toucan Diabetes Project. Mr. Goldfarb's experience as the father of an autistic child has lead him to support many organizations focused on autism research and treatment including Autism Speaks, The Oak Hill School and The Ryder Foundation. He is a major contributor and sponsor to Homeward Bound of Marin, the Scleroderma Research Foundation, The Mill Valley Film Festival, and the Drug Policy Alliance. Stemming from his love of aiding underprivileged youth, the arts, and technology, Mr. Goldfarb continues to be a major contributor to Room to Read, The Lower Eastside Girls Club, and FIRST - For Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology. Mr. Goldfarb also owns and sponsors the LRG Racing team which competes in the American Federation of Motorcyclists and other racing clubs. Larry also continues to write and contribute to a variety of publications including: A Deal is Just a Deal (Biotechnology Venture Capital Investments - Aspatore Books); PIPE's: A Guide to Private Investments in Public Equity Revised & Updated Edition (Bloomberg); PIPEs: A Guide to Private Investments in Public Equity First Edition, Chapter 8 (Bloomberg); Biotech's fear SEC's closer scrutiny of PIPE deal (San Francisco Business Times); Redefining Fees and Performance (Institutional Investor's Alpha); Reality Check Time for Hedge Funds (eFinancialNews). Additionally, Mr. Goldfarb speaks at numerous conferences and forums including the 4th Annual Global Absolute Returns Congress, the Australian Pensions and Investment Summit and along with Microsoft hosted and spoke at the Building Billion-Dollar Companies in the Bay State.
